10/1/2007 Unofficial SRCC General Membership Meeting Notes

 

1. treasurer's report (terry franz):  july 4th/labor day fandango together raised nearly $2,000

 

2. fandango (bruce barrack) – the event was a success despite the light showers at the very end of the day and raised $2,000.

 

motion: earmark $1,200 from the general fund for next year's 4th of July to cover permit, insurance, flyer for newsletter and expanded pool hours = passed

 

motion: split proceeds between historic district and art trail people = passed

 

3. travis county neighborhood conference (Janis ansley) – Janis spoke with us about the mission of the organization which involves positive role models with at risk youths to help them develop into good decision makers. they are looking for people interested in working with this organization. call 854-4580 or email darrell.caldwell@co.travis.tx.us

 

4. reed hall, waller creek tunnel (jean mather) – historic zoning for reed hall in terry town. the city is seeking input on the proposed ampitheater at waller creek.

 

motion: SRCC support for historic zoning of reed hall = passed

 

motion: SRCC rejects the ampitheater project = passed

 

motion: SRCC votes in favor of natural banks along the newly remodeled creek = passed

 

5. SRCC newsletter (jean mather, terry franz) – Helen valdez is new newsletter editor. please submit your articles to Helen by October 12th – email her at Helen.valdez@publicans.com

 

6. time insurance (gayle goff, toni house) – 2nd and 3rd readings postponed till November 8th

 

7. 222.300 riverside (kenny hilbig) – oct 9th this case goes to planning commission. the town lake trail foundation has decided to endorse the CWS properties project.savetownlake.org conducted a telephone poll and found no support for the variances CWS is seeking.

 

8. st. ed's runoff (jeff kessel) – st Edwards has rejected the city's offering to pay for them to put a rainwater detention pond under the practice field. they have not given any indication of what they plan to do if anything at all. the faculty advisor for the student newspaper expressed interest in covering the issue so if anyone would like to help me in the presentation of facts to support our cause, please let me know. she said someone would call in the next 24 hours.

 

9. committee reports:

a. travis park apartments (terry franz) – The conditions there aren't much better, but we do expect some improvement based on the failing score which has been given to the current property manager.

b. historic zoning (melanie martinez) - $10 donation gets you a "save our homes – learn how @ historictravisheights.org" sign. also calendars are on sale for $15. oct 27th yard sale fundraiser. awareness/fund raising booth at 1st thursday events. to create a historic district 50% of the homes must qualify as historic with 60% of the owners approving it.

 

10. other business:

a. 1800 nickerson – requested a variance to decrease setback from 15' to 8'

motion: SRCC opposes variance = passed

b. 1209 bickler – wants additional setback variance of 2'10"

motion: SRCC opposes variance = passed

c. art trail: dec 1st-2nd 11-5, 30 artists – check travisheightsart.com

d. 1907 travis heights blvd

motion: srcc does not oppose the waiver requested by developer = passed
